Govt to double oil & gas output in NE in 15 yrs with Rs1.3 lk cr

The Centre will invest 1 lakh 30 thousand crore rupees in the North East in the next 15 years in hydrocarbon sector. Releasing the Hydrocarbon Vision Document 2030 for North East in Guwahati today, Union Petroleum minister Dharmendra Pradhan said that target has been set to provide LPG connection to every households in North East in the next three years. He also announced to set up nearly seven thousand kilometer of pipelines in the region. <br/><br/>The vision aims at doubling the oil and gas production by 2030. Mr. Pradhan said that oil sector will invest 50 crore rupees in CSR activities in the next financial year in Assam including assistance in setting up a university at Majuli. He said that the vision document is based on five pillars- people, policy, partnership, projects and production. AIR correspondent reports that the document sets the target of developing North East as a dominant hydrocarbon hub at the forefront of country's energy economy.
