The Srikrishna Committee, looking into the matter of demand for a separate Telangana state in Andhra Pradesh, submitted its report to Home Minister P Chidamaram on Thursday. The two-volume report, prepared by the Committee after extensive discussions with political parties and other organisations in the state over the past 11 months, was submitted a day before the Committee's term was to expire. Soon after the submission of the report, Mr Chidambaram told reporters that he proposes to convene a meeting of 8 recognised political parties of Andhra Pradesh on January 6. He said, government will consult all political parties before taking an “appropriate” decision. The Home Minister also said that the report will be made public immediately after the January 6 meeting. He also said that the report will be carefully studied in the Ministry of Home Affairs and will be shared with the ministries or departments concerned of the government.Chairman of the Committee, Justice B N Srikrishna said that the report is aimed at highest satisfaction of the largest number of people. Member-Secretary of the Committee V K Duggal said the Committee has given the way forward. It says what is to be done. There are many options.
