The government today said it will construct concrete roads in Maoist affected forest areas of Jharkhand. Talking to reporters after a meeting with Jharkhand Chief Minister Arjun Munda in New Delhi, Rural Development Minister Jairam Ramesh said that center has finalized a strategy to bring development in Maoist affected areas in the country. Mr. Ramesh said the roads will be built with the assistance of Central Reserve Police Force, CRPF. The minister said this strategy will be replicated in other states also after its success in Saranda forest area of Jharkhand. Mr Ramesh said programmes like Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme, Indira Awas Yojana will also be implemented in maoist affected areas.The Rural Development Minister also said that Jharkhand government has assured to deploy one Panchayat Development officer and Junior Engineer in each panchayat of maoist affected areas.Mr. Ramesh also said that he is in consultations with the Ministry of Environment and Forests to grant relaxation in certain norms for construction of roads, schools and hospitals for smooth development of these areas.The Rural development minister said that center will prepare the new Below Poverty Line peoples list of maoist affected areas of the country by end of the year.
