Govt to construct hostels for J & K students at Jamia Milia University

Government will construct hostels to accommodate students from Jammu and Kashmir at Jamia Milia Islamia University. A MoU to this effect was today signed by Ministry of Home Affairs and Government of Jammu and Kashmir and the University. Speaking on the occasion Home Minister P.Chidambaram said this is a very positive step for higher education to students of Jammu and Kashmir. Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Mr. Omar Abdullah said this step will help in providing accommodation and also further integration of the students of Jammu and Kashmir.The proposed hostel facility will be for 400 students of Post Graduate ,Graduate and School Level students from the state. The estimated cost of the project is over 16 crore rupees and the project is expected to be completed within 24 months from the date of construction.Our correspondent reports , this is part of the initiative taken by the Centre to enhance confidence building measures for the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
