The government is considering a proposal to start vocational courses from school to graduate level. The Human Resource Development Ministry is processing the National Vocational Qualification Framework, NVEQF, to set common principles for imparting vocational education in the country.
The scheme will cover schools and vocational education training institutes. Institutions of higher education will also come under its purview. The scheme will be implemented after Cabinet approval. This information was given by the Minister of State for Human Resource Development, Dr. D. Purandeswari, in the Lok Sabha today. She said there have been extensive consultations with the States in formulating the proposed vocational education pattern.
The States have been urged to identify courses specific to their needs to be covered under the scheme, she said.
