The government on Tuesday assured the Rajya Sabha that it will come out with full facts about the alleged diversion of funds for Commonwealth games by Delhi Government meant for welfare of the Scheduled castes and Scheduled tribes. Responding to a brief discussion on the issue in the Rajya Sabha, the Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs, Mr. Prithviraj Chavan said that the response will come next week after getting the information from Delhi Government. AIR Correspondent reports that while participating in the debate, the members belonging to BSP, BJP, Left, SP and others, demanded action against those responsible for diversion of funds, which they described as a clear contravention of Planning Commission's guidelines in this regard.AIR correspondent Vijay Raina reports that both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha witnessed repeated adjournments on the issue with BSP and other oppossition members pressing for an early debate on the issue. While the Lok Sabha was adjourned till 1140 hours, the Rajya Sabha was adjourned thrice till 2 PM. The members belonging to BSP were joined by the BJP and Left, seeking an immediate discussion on the issue. They alleged over 744 crore rupees meant for the welfare programmes of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes have been diverted and this is a cause of serious concern. The presiding officers of the two houses assured the agitating members that a deabte will be taken up but they refused to relent. Finally the government cleared the air in the short duration discussion taken up in the Rajya Sabha later.
