The Ministry of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises has decided to check whether diesel car manufacturers are adhering to the prescribed emission standards or not. The test will be carried out by government's testing Agency Automotive Research Association of India. <br/><br/>In reply to a question, Minister for Heavy Industries, Anant Geete said that during the lab testing, car manufacturing company Volkswagen has been found violating the emission norms. He said, as far as the action against the company is concerned, his Ministry has no jurisdiction in the matter and the case has been referred to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. <br/><br/> Earlier, speaking about the achievements of his Ministry in last two years, Mr Geete said, the government has launched Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Hybrid and Electric Vehicles Scheme to encourage adoption and manufacturing of electric vehicle. <br/><br/>The scheme is being implemented from last year for which 14 thousand crore rupees have been allocated. Based on the green initiatives, the scheme will help save fuel worth sixty thousand crore rupees. Mr Geete said, out of the 31 Public Sector Enterprises which fall under the Ministry, twelve are in profit and other six loss making companies have been closed.
