Government will come up with a new public procurement policy for micro, small and medium enterprises,MSME, by April next year. Addressing a Global SME Business Summit in New Delhi today, MSME Minister Kalraj Mishra said, it will be mandatory for all Public sector units to procure at least 20 per cent of products and services from micro and small enterprises (MSEs) under the procurement policy. The Minister also said that a new policy for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises will be brought in to streamline activities for promoting employment and encouraging entrepreneurship among women and rural youth. Mr. Mishra said that government is committed to set up 500 incubation centers across the country to impart skill and train micro and small entrepreneurs especially in rural areas. He also said that manpower development, entrepreneurial development and increase in output are very important for economic growth to realize the goal of make in India initiative of the government.
