Govt to allow minorities from Pakistan, Bangladesh to stay without papers

Centre has decided to exempt minority community nationals from Bangladesh and Pakistan in regularization of their entry and stay in India on humanitarian grounds. The Government issued two notifications in this regard under the Passport Act and the Foreigners Act yesterday. <br/><br/>An official release issued by the Home Ministry said, Centre has decided to exempt Bangladeshi and Pakistani nationals belonging to minority communities who have entered India on or before 31st of December last year. <br/><br/>Home Ministry said, there are reports that a number of Bangladeshi and Pakistani nationals belonging to minority communities in those countries were compelled to seek shelter in India due to religious persecution or fear of religious persecution. They entered India either without any valid document or with documents whose validity has expired. <br/><br/>The Ministry also said, the issue of regularization of entry and stay of such Bangladeshi and Pakistani nationals in India has been under consideration of the Central Government.
