Union Finance Minister, Pranab Mukherjee has said that the government has decided to allow duty free import of essential commodities to check the price rise. <br/><br/>He said state governments and private players have been allowed imports of essential items like sugar, pulse, edible oil to deal with the situation.<br/><br/>Mr Mukherjee was talking to media persons at Jhangipur in Murshidabad district of West Bengal on Sunday. He said that recent increase of the Cash Reserve Ratio, CRR by Reserve Bank of India will help in controlling price rise.<br/><br/>Earlier, Mr. Mukherjee inaugurated a Customer Service Point of SBI at Sanyasidanga in Murshidabad district marking the coverage of one lakh unbanked villages. <br/><br/>AIR correspondent reports that rural people will have all banking facilities through Customer Service Point across the country where there is no branch of the nationalized banks.<br/>
