Govt to adopt Punjab's meritorious school model: Smriti Irani

Union Human Resource Development Minister Smriti Irani today announced that the Government would explore the feasibility to adopt a model of imparting quality school education at national level to benefit the bright students of economically weaker sections. Hailing the setting up of such meritorious schools by Punjab government, she said in Bathinda that by adopting such model Punjab government has shown a way.<br/><br/> She urged the Chief Minister to send a team of experts to the Government of India so that their valuable advice could be incorporated in new education policy to replicate this model at national level for the benefit of poor but meritorious students across the country. Union Minister today visited a meritorious school in Bathinda.<br/><br/> It may be noted that Punjab Government has set up meritorious schools for those economically weaker students who secure 80 percent or above marks in matriculation. Such students are provided free education in meritorious residential schools set up across the state.
