Govt to acquire 10 lakh more computer tablets – Akaash

Government is all set to acquire 10 lakh more low cost computer tablets -Akaash.

Each tablet costs 2276 rupees. According to official sources, this small and low cost device is catching the attention globally.

Companies from US, Malaysia, Thailand and Latin America have shown keen interest to buy these tablets. Panama has approached Indian Embassy in Panama city to buy one lakh tablets.

Manufacturing of these tablets is going on as per schedule.

Meanwhile the UID of India has approached the Ministry of Human Resource Development for collaborating in Akaash Project.

The Ministry has written letters to Vice Chancellors of Government and Private Universities and the State Chief Secretaries explaining the objectives and importance of the Akassh programme. Central government will provide 50 per cent subsidy to Indian students.
