Government today termed the fear of ill-effects of mobile radiations as baseless. In a series of tweets, Communication and IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said extensive study by WHO and scrutiny by several High Courts have proven that fears are baseless. He, however, said the Centre is open to look into any tangible evidence that can establish the health hazards of radiations from mobile phone towers. He said mobile phone radiation norms in India are ten times more stringent than many developed countries.

On call drops, the Minister said the telecom operators must reinforce their network to curb it adding that voice should not become casualty for promoting data usage. Mr. Prasad said complaint against call drops and motivated campaign against radiations cannot go together. He said, he has written to all Chief Ministers to offer government buildings for setting up towers following mobile operators' complaints that they do not get place to install towers.
