Govt terms Anna's protest unjustified & unconstitutional

Government today termed the proposed protest by Anna Hazare as unjustified, undemocratic, unconstitutional and upfront to Parliament. Briefing reporters in New Delhi, Union Minister Kapil Sibal defended the Delhi Police's decision on granting three days of permission to team Anna to carry on his protest. The Police had yesterday granted conditional approval to Anna to observe fast. Referring to allegations by the members of civil society that they were being denied their fundamental right to protest, Mr Sibal said that the right does not provide for holding protest anywhere anytime. Mr Sibal added that the Lokpal Bill is now under the consideration of the Parliamentary Standing Committee.Union Minister Ambika Soni termed Anna Hazare's remark against the Prime Minister as derogatory. She said that no one has ever raised questions over the Prime Minister in his personal capacity.The Prime Minister last night asked Anna Hazare to address his grievances to the concerned authorities as the PMO does not in any way get involve in such decision making process. This came in response to a letter by Anna Hazare to the Prime Minister after Police granted Hazare permission to hold protest with several conditions.
