Government has targeted about 80 lakh subscribers under the Swavalambam pension scheme as part of its Jan-Dhan Yojana by the end of current fiscal. Speaking to reporters in New Delhi today, Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority, PFRDA Chairman, R V Verma said, the scheme is focused on lower sections of population and banking industry is working in close co-ordination with PFRDA to achieve the target. He also said the products under Jan-Dhan scheme should be made available to a large section of society and it should be economically viable. He said there is need for deepening of the financial sector so that the benefits could reach all sections of society.
