The government has taken various steps for creation of ample employment opportunities to the growing labour force in the country. Giving this information in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha, minister of state for planning, science and technology Dr. Ashwini Kumar said that specific initiatives like Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act, Swarnjayanti Gram Swarojgar Yojna, Swarna Jayanti Shahri Rozgar Yojna and Prime Minister's Employment Generation Programme have been implemented for the purpose. He said that for improving the employability of the growing labour force, the government laid emphasis on promoting Skill Development during the Eleventh Five Year Plan.
