Govt taking measures to strengthen coastal security: Rijiju

The government is taking various measures to strengthen the coastal security of the country. Replying to supplementaries in the Lok Sabha, Minister of State for Home, Kiren Rijiju said a coastal security scheme is being implemented in phases for the purpose. He said Central assistance is provided to the Coastal States for creation of infrastructure including setting up Coastal Police Stations, Check posts, barracks and procurement of four wheelers. <br/><br/>He said, strengthening of coastal security is a continuous process and government reviews and monitors the entire process for timely completion of coastal security scheme. He said, the government is also giving smart cards to the fishermen who venture into the coastal area so that illegal entries could be checked.
