Power Minister Piyush Goyal today said during the 12th plan period (that is from 2012 to 2017) a capacity addition of about 88,928 Mega watt power generation from the conventional sources have been achieved till 31st October 2016. Replying to questions in the Lok Sabha, Mr Goyal said about 21,128 MW energy has been generated from renewable sources till September 30th last. <br/><br/>The minister said, government is taking various initiatives to augment power availability in the country including at household level. He also informed the House that adequate supply of the domestic coal to power plants has been ensured. Mr Goyal said the central government has notified Ujjwal Discom Assurance Yojana on November 20, 2015 for operational and financial turnaround of DISCOMS.
