Govt taking effective measures to tackle road accidents problem: Joshi

Government says, it is taking effective measures to tackle the problem of road accidents in the country.

In a statement issued in New Delhi on Monday, Union Minister for Transport and Highways, C. P. Joshi said that the government will provide the world class infrastructure to the Model Driving Training and Research Institutes and Vehicle Inspection Centers for better road safety.

He said, the Ministry is also in touch with Planning Commission to mobilize the required funds during the 12th five year plan for road safety.

Expressing concern over the issue Mr. Joshi said, the government is drawing up various schemes including research, training of drivers and education campaigns to cover every aspect of road safety.

The Minister said, the road safety is serious socio-technical issue which affects mostly the poor people, pedestrians, cyclists and two wheeler drivers.
