Government today informed the Rajya Sabha that it is taking appropriate steps to secure the security interests of the country. Responding to questions in the Rajya Sabha today, the External Affairs Minister Mr. S.M. Krishna said that a close watch is being kept on the clandestine proliferation activities of North Korea and Libya particularly in the backdrop of active A.Q. Khan Network. Referring to some media reports indicating that Myanmar has a nuclear programme, Mr. Krishna said that the issue was taken up with that government and they have rejected the reports. He however said that a close watch is being maintained in the neighbourhood as both China and Pakistan possess nuclear weapons.
