The Government is taking all possible measures to bring down Cancer related deaths and make the disease a preventable one. Replying to a supplementary during the Question Hour in the Rajya Sabha today, Health and Family Welfare Minister J P Nadda said the Government is developing an Information Education and Communication Strategy to create awareness among people. Stating that Cancer prevalence is on rise by 20 per cent annually, the Minister said 11 lakh people detected with cancer every year and 5 lakh succumbed to it. He said the life-style changes are contributing to the high rate of incidence of Cancer. The Minister said 27 regional Cancer Centres, 20 State Level Cancer Institutions and 50 tertiary cancer hospitals are made available for cancer treatment across the country.
