Minister of state for Information and Broadcasting Col Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore has said in the last three years 25 different channels have been off air for a day or two for showing vulgarity and indecency in reality shows. <br/><br/>Replying to a question in the Lok Sabha today, Col Rathore said the Broadcasting Complaint Cell has received 450 complaints in last three years and action has been taken on 300 of them. He asserted that the government takes a serious note of the contents being telecast by various television channels in the country.<br/><br/>Col Rathore also informed the House that the government has set up an Electronic Media Monitoring Centre (EMMC) to review the content of private TV channels in the context of the programme and advertising codes. <br/><br/>He said the Electronic Monitoring Cell monitors 600 channels. The minister also informed the House, that as part of its self regulating mechanism, Indian Broadcasting Foundation (IBF) has set up Broadcasting Content Complaints Council.
