The government has taken a policy initiative to take up operation and maintenance of developed stretches of National Highways on Operate-Maintain-Transfer basis through private sector participation there by leveraging the available resources.

This information was given in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha by the Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Dr C P Joshi. He said the National Transport Development Policy Committee has not yet submitted its report.
