The Government has taken a number of measures and important decisions in the light of emerging challenges to the security apparatus. In a written reply in the Rajya Sabha today, Minister of State for Home Mr Ajay Makan said that they include strengthening of central paramilitary forces, establishing NSG hubs, and reorganizing the multi agency centre to enable it to function round the clock. Apart from this, he said that effective border management, flood lighting, deployment of surveillance equipment and coastal security has also been upgraded for the purpose. The Minister informed the House that Unlawful Activities Act has been amended.<br/> <br/>Giving details about the Pune terror strike, he said there were intelligence inputs to indicate that there were certain places on target of terrorist outfits and Maharashtra police has issued detailed security measure for the commercial establishments as a preventive step.
