Govt takes number of initiatives to enhance health care facilities for rural population

Government has taken a number of initiatives to enhance health care facilities for rural population across the country. <br/><br/>This includes better facilities of specialised doctors and nursing and modern equipment for diagnosis. <br/><br/>This was revealed at a function organised to mark the five years of the National Rural Health Mission in New Delhi. <br/><br/>Speaking on the occasion, the Vice President, Mohammed Hamid Ansari while hailing the contribution of the Mission in better health care facilities of rural population said it also is an occasion to prepare for the challenges ahead. <br/><br/>He asserted it is high time that affordable, accountable and reliable healthcare is available at every door step in the rural India. <br/><br/>Earlier the vice president presented awards to six states, Assam, Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, Mizoram, Haryana and Madhya Pradesh for their outstanding performance in implementing this historic mission.<br/><br/>Health minister, Ghulam Nabi Azad said that 10,000 additional post graduate seats in medical colleges will be created in the next two years. <br/><br/>Four thousand of them have already been created in this academic year. <br/><br/>Mr Azad said 265 training institutes for nurses are also coming up to provide the additional back up paramedical staff. <br/><br/>He said these institutes will provide 10,000 paramedical and 20,000 nurses every year. Mr Azad called for renewing the commitment in transforming the rural healthcare system of the country.<br/>
