Govt takes measures for storage, packaging of foodgrains

Government has taken several measures for the storage and packaging of foodgrains in the wake of bumper crops this year. The government will seek suggestions from various political parties to find a mechanism to solve food grain storage problem.

Making a brief statement during Zero Hour in the Lok Sabha yesterday, Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee said government is willing to sit with leaders of various political parties to find a long term solution so that issues like storage and availability of jute sacks do not become a regular problem.

On increasing storage facility, Mr. Mukherjee said several tax and other concessions are being provided to increase the numbers of godowns.
