Health Minister J P Nadda today said the government is taking concrete steps to strengthen tertiary medical infrastructure in the country. Speaking at the convocation ceremony of Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, in New Delhi, Mr Nadda said, his Ministry is giving high priority to tertiary healthcare services and medical education. He said, the government has also announced setting up of eleven new AIIMS like institutions in various parts of the country.<br/><br/>He also informed that Government is expanding the network of the medical colleges in a big way by upgrading 58 district hospitals to medical colleges.He said, 20 State cancer institutes and 50 Tertiary cancer care centers are also being set up. <br/><br/>The Health Minister also urged the medical Institutes to harness the tremendous potential of the IT services in Medical Education and Health Care Delivery. He said,the Ministry is taking concrete steps to expand the scope of Telemedicine, tele-consultation and tele-radiology.
