The government has surpassed electricity generation target of 11th five year plan and the rural electrification target under Bharat Nirman. Speaking to media in New Delhi today Union Power Minister Mr.Sushil Kumar Shinde said that as against target of 855 billion units, the country has achieved generation of 875 billion units. He further added that against the target of electrification of one lakh villages one lakh three thousand villages have already been electrified. However, in the field of capacity addition, it felt a little short the 11th Five year plan target of 62,000 megawatt. Our correspondent reports that country's installed capacity is now one lakh 93 thousand 592 megawatts. Replying to a question Mr.Shinde said that issues related to coal and gar for power generation is being sorted out.
