The Union Minister of state for Human Resource Development D Purandeswari has emphasized the need to formulate strategies and programmes to achieve 80 per cent literacy among women at national level by the end of 11th five year plan. <br/><br/>Inaugurating a National Conference on Vitalising Female Literacy – Challenges of 21st century, in Hyderabad on Tuesday, she said in view of the multiplier social benefit that the country would get, the Government has been focusing on female literacy and has aimed at making 6 crore women literate in the next 2 years. <br/><br/>She said the National Literacy Mission has been redefined as the National Mission for Female Literacy to focus on empowering of women. <br/>
