Govt: Steps taken by Delhi police for women safety, security

The government today said Delhi police have taken various steps for safety and security of women. In a written reply to the Rajya Sabha, minister of state for Home Jitendra Singh said these measures include identifying the vulnerable areas requiring presence of adequate police staff and deployment of women police. Mr Singh informed the House that female police staff has been deployed in beats and in PCR vans to cover areas prone to crime against women. He said women help desks have also been formed in all police stations and special measures have been taken for their safety and security . Mr Singh said his ministry has sent a detailed advisory in September 2009 to all state government's and union territories to adopt appropriate measures for swift and salutary punishment to the persons found guilty of violence against women.
