The government has started various schemes to promote organic farming in the country. Theses schemes include National Project on Organic Farming, National Horticulture Mission, Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana and Horticulture Mission for North East and Himalayan States. In a written reply in the Rajya Sabha today, Minister of State for Agriculture and Food Processing Industries, Harish Rawat said activities like capacity building, input production, technology transfer and awareness campaign are being supported under these schemes. He said these initiatives have helped to increase the availability of organic produce in the country.
