Government today signed a loan agreement with Asian Development Bank, ADB for 75 million dollars and 1.8 million dollar grant for Karnataka Integrated Urban Water Management Investment Program, KIUWMIP. The loan has a 25 year term including a grace period of five years. The first potion of the loan under the KIUWMIP will help expand and upgrade urban water supply and sanitation infrastructure. The agreement was signed by Tarun Bajaj, Joint Secretary, Department of Economic Affairs at the Finance Ministry. Mr Bajaj said that he is happy to note that this project will help increase water treatment capacity by 15,000 cubic meters per day.
