Govt signs $ 37 mn agreement with WB for Himalayan Watershed Development Project

The Government signed a 37 million US dollar credit agreement with the World Bank for the ongoing Himachal Pradesh Mid-Himalayan Watershed Development Project. The credit will help the Himachal Pradesh Government to build sustainable watershed treatment models.

According to an official release, the original 60 million US dollar Mid-Himalayan Watershed Development Project is aimed at reversing the process of degradation of the natural resource base, improve productivity, and raise rural household incomes.

The ongoing project has converted about 9,000 hector of rainfed area into irrigated land through watershed management techniques.
