Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi has demanded that government should assess the damage of crops due to recent hailstorm and provide them compensation immediately. As soon as the Lok Sabha met for the day, Mr. Gandhi raised the issue and sought immediate action in the matter. He also said the government must act to give relief to farmers affected by crop damage. <br/><br/>Replying to it, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Venkaiah Naidu said it is a serious matter. He said the Agriculture minister Radha Mohan Singh is in touch with the state governments to assess the situation. He said the minister will make a statement in the House on the issue.<br/><br/>Later, the Speaker Sumitra Mahajan disallowed the adjournment motions moved by Congress members including Rahul Gandhi in this regard saying they can raise the issue through other opportunities.
