The government has set up a Group of Ministers to consider environmental clearance relating to coal mining and other projects. The twelve member group is headed by the Finance Minister. The GoM will consider concerns emanating from various developmental activities related with infrastructure and mining. It will finalize its recommendations within two months. Stating this in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha today, the Minister of State for Science and Technology, Mr. Ashwani Kumar said altogether 75 projects related with power, coal and highways are awaiting environmental clearance.
