The government today said it intends to cover three fourth of the households in the country under LPG cooking gas scheme. Replying to supplementaries in the Lok Sabha, Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharamedra Pardhan said, sixty per cent households have been provided with LPG connections at present. The Minister said, Centre is also focusing on providing Piped Natural gas connection to the households in cities.<br/><br/>To reduce the dependence of oil imports from other countries, Mr Pradhan said, the government has set a target of reducing ten per cent in oil imports. He informed the House that India is actively pursuing the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline which will bring gas from Turkmenistan to India. India is also discussing with Russia the possibility of a pipeline for natural gas.
