Govt sets fiscal deficit target at 3.9% of GDP

The government has exuded confidence that it will contain the modest target of fiscal deficit at 3.9 per cent. Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said the Centre will focus on growth by spending more. The Minister was replying to media queries on the sidelines of a function in New Delhi today. Mr Jaitley, who is also the Information and Broadcasting Minister, said the Kisan Channel will be launched tomorrow in New Delhi. Mr Jaitley said, the 24 hour channel will be focusing on rural India, agriculture, farmers and weather. He said, it will also provide entertainment to its viewers. Earlier, inaugurating a Multi Media Exhibition: Saal Ek Shuruat Anek, highlighting the achievements of one year of NDA Government, Mr Jaitley said, such events will be organised in all the 30 capitals and sixty cities during the next one month. He said, 345 mobile vans will be deployed for the campaign. The Minister said, the idea behind organising such exhibitions is to create awareness among people.
