Govt set to bring new bill empowering differently-able in Budget session

Union social justice and empowerment minister Thawar Chand Gehlot has said that a new bill adding more empowerment to the handicapped persons will be introduced in the coming budget session of the parliament. He said that his ministry is considering to use the term 'Divyang' instead of Viklang or handicapped as suggested by prime minister Narendra Modi recently. <br/><br/>Speaking on the occasion of national youth day today, the Jayanti of Swami Vivekananda in Lucknow, Mr Gehlot further said that in the proposed new law there will be around 18 definitions instead of present seven to declare a person handicapped or Divyang. <br/><br/>Mr. Gehlot also announced that an Integrated Rehabilitation Centre will be established in every state of the country. He asked for land for this purpose from Uttar Pradesh government . <br/><br/>Responding to the appeal two persons from the gathering announced to donate ten acres of land for the cause. In the same program organised by ministry of Social Justice in collaboration with Bhaurau Devras sewa nyas Lucknow, artificial limbs and aides were also distributed to 697 handicapped persons amounting to nearly 66.5 lakh Rupees. <br/><br/>It also included smart canes, smart phone and tricycles. Union minister also announced that a Universal ID UID card will be issued by the ministry to all handicapped persons within next one and half year.
