Govt set target to increase number of subscribers of EPFO to 10 crores: Bhupender Yadav

Union Minister for Labour and Employment Bhupender Yadav today said that the government has set a target to increase the number of subscribers of the Employees Provident Fund Organisation(EPFO) from the existing 6.5 crores to 10 crores. The Minister said, that although various other pension schemes like Atal Pension Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana are being implemented the EPFO is the focal point of all such schemes.

Mr Yadav was speaking at the 70th Foundation Day function of EPFO in New Delhi. He said, it is the primary responsibility of the EPFO officers to ensure pensions to all those who are poor and working in factories. Mr Yadav highlighted that the government's aim is to expand the social security net in the country. Mr Yadav also said that the aim of the EPFO should not only be limited to add more subscribers in its net but also to delivering its services to the subscribers in a hassle-free manner.

On the occasion, Mr Bhupender Yadav inaugurated the EPFO's Regional Office Ranchi Building and laid the foundation stone of Regional Office Pune Building. He also gave away the Bhavishya Nidhi Award 2022 in different categories at the function. Speaking on the occasion, Union Minister of State for Labour and Employment Rameswar Teli said that the government is making all-out efforts to complete all projects including those related to the construction of buildings of EPFO in a time-bound manner.
