Govt serious for Right to Food Security Act: FM

Union Finanace Minister Mr Pranab Mukherji today said that Government is serious for Right to Food Security Act after Right to Information and Right to Education Act. At the moment, the Act is under discussion before the standing committee of Parliament.

He was addressing the gathering after inaugurating the new corporate office of Oriental Bank of Commerce at Gurgaon on 70th raising day of the bank. Finance Minister said that Oriental bank is a lead bank of Public sector and it`s total buisness is of 2,67,000 crore rupees. He said that the banking services have played a major role in the economic development of the country and our banking system emerged strong during global economic crisis. He said that in the last budget session, he had said that by march, 2012 the banking services would be made available in the villages having population of 2000. Minister sdaid , we are working for it and Oriental Bank is too close to achieve this goal.

Minister urged the banks to participate in the overall development of the country and make available the facility of e-banking to common man. Mr Mukherji also inaugurated a e-lobby in the corporate office of the bank.
He also inaugurated through remote two branches of the bank in the Badarpur and Armrora village of Mewat district on this occasion.
