Govt says,1.85 crore persons have been offered work in May this year under MGNREGA despite COVID-19 pandemic

<span style="color: #222222;">The Government today said that 1.85 lakh persons have been offered work in May this year under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act, MGNREGA despite COVID-19 pandemic. The work offered is 52 per cent higher in comparison to May 2019. The Rural Development Ministry said, the government has ensured that the development works across the country should not be affected due to the 2nd wave of COVID-19. It said, during the period, the country has witnessed speed and progress in various schemes under the ministry.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"> </span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">Apart from the developmental works, the Ministry has also trained nodal persons at state, district and block level to tackle the COVID-19 situation in rural areas under Deen Dayal Antyodaya Yojana – National Rural Livelihoods Mission.</span><br />''
