Govt. says, talks being held with representatives of Anna Hazare

Government says that the talks being held with the representatives of Anna Hazare are moving in the right direction. Appealing the eminent Gandhian Anna Hazare to break his fast unto death, Cabinet Minister Mr. Kapil Sibal said that the broad parameters for bringing legislation to effectively deal with the menace of corruption have been agreed in the two rounds of talks. He described the talks with Arvind Kejriwal and Swami Agniwesh as very constructive. The talks were held on Wednesday evening and this morning. Mr. Sibal said that specifics are yet to be finalised and another round is slated this afternoon. Meanwhile, Gandhian Activist Anna Hazare 's fast-unto-death on the Lokpal issue today entered the third day. Talking to reporters at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi, he said that he was not averse to dialogue but insisted that such discussions should take place with those who have power to take decisions, be it Congress Chief Sonia Gandhi or Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. Hazare repeated his view that there was no point in talking to any committee which has no power to take major decisions. He said in an apparent reference to the GoM on corruption issue. He stuck to the demand for a joint committee of civil society members and government representatives to draft a strong anti-graft bill. Hazare's protest has led to the resignation of Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar from the Group of Ministers on corruption after the Gandhian took potshots at him.
