Government says it has taken up the issue of staple visas being issued by China to the residents of Jammu and Kashmir with Beijing firmly and has made it clear that it is unacceptable to New Delhi. Delivering a lecture on India-China relations in New Delhi, the Foreign Secretary Nirupama Rao said that she took up the issue with Chinese Authorities during her recent visit to Beijing. She said it is for China to take necessary action on this front. Ms Rao said that the relations between the two countries are on a sound footing and they need to be sensitive to each others core concerns. On the border issue, Ms. Rao said that it is a complex one and the representatives of the two countries are discussing the issue regularly. She however, maintained that Confidence Building Measures, CBMs, taken by the two countries have yielded results and there is tranquility on the border. Ms. Rao however, called for taking more CBMs to take the relations to new heights. Referring to issue of waters, she said China has assured that the projects will not affect the flow of water in India.
