Govt says Indigo airlines submitted expression of interest regarding disinvestment of Air India

Government today said Indigo airlines has submitted an expression of interest regarding disinvestment of Air India. In a written reply in the Lok Sabha, Civil Aviation Minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju said, no response needs to be communicated to Indigo airlines at this stage as disinvestment of any Central Public Sector Enterprises is done in accordance with laid down procedures. <br/><br/>Mr Raju said, suggestions are being received regarding disinvestment of Air India and these would be kept in mind while arriving at the final decision regarding contours of disinvestments. <br/><br/>The Minister informed that government has constituted an Air India Specific Alterative Mechanism (AISAM) headed by Finance Minister to guide the process on strategic disinvestment from time to time and decide on issues. He said the first meeting of AISAM is yet to commence.<br/><br/>The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA), in its meeting held on 28th of last month, had given in-principle approval for considering strategic disinvestment of Air India.
