Govt says army has no mandate to fund politicians or political parties

The Army has no mandate to fund politicians or political parties and if such a thing has occurred, Government would order an inquiry. This was revealed by a highly placed official.

Taking strong exception to the statement of former Army Chief V.K.Singh that Army used its secret funds to transfer money to politicians in Jammu & Kashmir, the official said that Government would not hesitate to take action against the individual or the Organization if the Army Chief reveals the name of the politicians or groups who allegedly received money in the State.

Describing the statement of Gen(Retd) V.K.Singh as shocking, the senior official said that Pakistan Prime Minister could raise this issue during his meeting with his Indian counterpart in New York.
