<span style="color: #222222;">The government has said there are 19 thousand 501 level crossings in the country on the Indian Railway network till April 2022. Informing this in a written reply to Lok Sabha, the Railway minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said all the unmanned level crossings on the Broad Gauge network had been eliminated by January 2019. He informed that 751 unmanned level crossings on Meter Gauge and Narrow Gauge sections exist on Indian Railways, which are planned for elimination during Gauge conversion of those sections. The Minister said seven persons were killed in consequential train accidents at manned level crossings during the past three years from 2019-20 to 2021-22.</span><br />
