Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas Dharmendra Pardhan has said that Under the Direct Benefit Transfer Scheme more than 15 crore people have been benefited and government saved around Rs 22,000 crore in the last two years.<br/><br/>In an exclusive interview to AIR, on completion of two years of NDA government, the Minister said that more than 3 crore duplicate connections have been plugged during the period. <br/><br/>He said this helped the Government to target the subsidy to the needy people in a big way. Speaking on the Give it Up LPG subsidy campaign, Mr Pardhan said, a large number of people under BPL are benefited under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Scheme. <br/><br/>Raising concern over the leakage of kerosene subsidy, the minister said 40 per cent of the subsidy is washed away due to the diversion into the grey market. He said the Central Government is in consultation with the States and is expected to take some big steps this financial year in plugging the loopholes in the kerosene subsidy issue. <br/><br/>The full text of the interview with the Minister can be heard tonight in our "Countywide" programme on FM Gold Channel and additional frequencies from 9.30 p.m.
