The government on Monday said that it is satisfied with the performance of Special Economic Zones with their exports registering a growth of over 25 percent in the last ten years. An investment of over 1,66526 crore rupees has been made during the period and direct employment has been generated for more than five lakh fifty thousand people.Giving this information the Commerce and Industry Minister Mr. Anand Sharma has said that after the enactment of the law on SEZs, formal approval has been given to 576 proposals out of which 358 SEZs have been notified. Nearly 115 SEZs have started exporting.
