The central government has sanctioned 330 crore rupees for the 35th National Games to be held in Kerala next year. There is still no word on when the 34th edition of the Games will be held after being postponed five times since 2007 but the Kerala government has already started preparations for the next Games. In response to a question in Rajya Sabha, the Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports Mr. Pratik Prakashbapu Patil said that the Central government has sanctioned an additional central assistance of Rs 110 crore to the state government for the purpose. The Kerala government has also requested for upgradation of Sports Authority of India Centres at Kozhikode, Thrissur, Alleppey and Thiruvananthapuram for the GSNC.
