Government has sanctioned nearly seven crore rupees to prepare athletes for the forthcoming Olympic Games to be held in London next year. The financial assistance will be used for imparting extensive training to the athletes apart from providing them with international exposure and personal coaches. The athletes will also be given scientific back-up in terms of sports psychologists, physiotherapists, and masseurs. An official release stated that 22 athletes have been short listed for this scheme by the Union Sports Ministry under the National Sports Development Fund.
